In a shocking incident, at least two police officers embraced martyrdom when the judges’ security squad came under attack in Dera Ismail Khan. The incident occurred near the Tank Bhagwal petrol pump, where the squad deployed for the judges’ security was ambushed, resulting in the martyrdom of two cops, identified as Abdullah and Samad. The exchange of fire was still ongoing at the time of reporting.

The unknown assailants managed to take the double cabin vehicle with them. However, the judges remained unharmed during the incident. This attack follows another violent encounter at the Mardan Railway Station, where a dispute over the lease led to a firefight between the Railway Police and porters, resulting in the martyrdom of two police constables and injuries to one, as well as four porters. In a separate incident, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ijaz Khan was martyred, and three other officials, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), sustained injuries during an encounter with terrorists in Mardan’s Zada Mata area. The fierce exchange of fire with terrorists led to the martyrdom of SP Ijaz Khan, confirmed by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesman.

These incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in Pakistan, as they continue to combat terrorism and maintain law and order in the region. The loss of these brave officers is a stark reminder of the sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty.
