Trump Claims US-China Trade Agreement Finalized, Pending Presidential Sign-Off
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a major trade agreement between the United States and China has been finalized, subject to the final approval of both nations’ presidents.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump stated that the United States would receive 55% of total tariffs under the new terms, while China would receive 10%. He added that in return, the U.S. would honor its commitments, including allowing Chinese students to study in American colleges and universities.
Trump further noted that he and Chinese President Xi Jinping would work together to open China’s economy further to U.S. trade and investment.
This announcement comes after high-level talks between American and Chinese officials in London this week, where key issues such as tariffs and rare earth exports were discussed.
Earlier this year, the U.S. imposed heavy tariffs on Chinese goods in April, but both countries agreed in May to a 90-day rollback of most punitive measures, paving the way for this new potential agreement.
The deal, if finalized, could mark a significant de-escalation in U.S.-China trade tensions and may reshape global economic dynamics moving forward.
