A crucial flag meeting took place at the Torkham border between officials of Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) and Afghan Forces. The meeting was convened to address the rising tensions over the disputed border constructions by Afghan Forces, which had led to a confrontation the previous day.

The Pakistani delegation, led by the 142 Wing Commander of the FC, and the Afghan delegation, headed by Border Commander Maulvi Mubashir, engaged in extensive discussions for two hours. The primary focus was the recent constructions by Afghan Forces in the contested border area. Both sides reached an agreement on a ceasefire and decided to escalate the issue to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for further resolution.

The successful negotiations resulted in the reopening of the Torkham gate, allowing the resumption of all types of cross-border transit. This development is seen as a positive step towards maintaining peace and stability in the region while ensuring that such disputes are handled diplomatically in the future.
