John Stones’ 98th-minute equaliser ensured Manchester City salvaged a 2-2 draw against a ten-man Arsenal on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium. The clash between two Premier League title contenders was filled with drama, tension, and a remarkable show of resilience from the Gunners.

City started brightly, with Erling Haaland marking his 100th goal for the club in just 105 appearances, putting them ahead early in the match. However, Arsenal responded in stunning fashion through Riccardo Calafiori’s wonder strike, equalising with a curling shot that left City’s goalkeeper Ederson with no chance. Gabriel Magalhaes then gave Arsenal a surprising lead with a powerful header from a corner kick.

The match took a crucial turn just before halftime when Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving the Gunners to defend for the entire second half with ten men. Despite their numerical disadvantage, Arsenal showcased incredible determination and tactical discipline, frustrating City’s attacks.

However, with seconds remaining, Stones capitalized on a corner that Arsenal failed to clear, bundling the ball into the net to rescue a point for City. Stones expressed his belief in the team’s fighting spirit, stating, “We have that belief we can win any game and never stop fighting.”

City’s draw allowed them to regain the top position in the Premier League, now sitting two points clear of Arsenal, who remain in fourth place. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised his team’s performance, noting it was a “miracle” they held on for so long with ten men.
