Sri Lanka Women Overcome Pakistan to Reach Women’s Asia Cup Final

Sri Lanka Women secured their place in the Women’s Asia Cup Final by defeating Pakistan Women. The victory not only ensures a spot in the final but also sets up an exciting clash with India.

Pakistan, batting first, set a competitive target of 141 runs. The innings saw an impressive performance by Sadia Iqbal, who took four crucial wickets. Despite Pakistan’s strong start, Sri Lanka remained determined and overcame the challenge.

Pakistan’s early breakthroughs put pressure on Sri Lanka, but a stellar innings from Chamari Athapaththu proved pivotal. Athapaththu scored 63 runs off 48 balls, including nine fours and a six, steering Sri Lanka closer to their target. Her partnership with Kavisha Dilhari, which yielded 59 runs, and a crucial 42-run stand with Anushka Sanjeewani, who contributed 24 not out, ensured Sri Lanka reached the target.

On the bowling front, Sadia Iqbal was exceptional, delivering career-best figures of four for 16. Omaima Sohail and Nida Dar also took one wicket each. Pakistan’s innings had strong contributions from the opening pair, Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali, who shared a 61-run stand. Gull scored 25 off 24 balls, and Muneeba added 37 off 34 balls.

The middle-order provided stability with Sidra Amin and Nida Dar adding crucial runs, while the unbroken partnership of Aliya Riaz and Fatima Sana further boosted Pakistan’s total.
