Soha Ali Khan Reveals Struggles Behind Her Journey from Banking to Bollywood

Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan has revealed a lesser-known chapter of her life, highlighting her determination to build a life of independence. Despite being the daughter of legendary stars Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and the sister of Saif Ali Khan, Soha chose to live in a rented apartment in Mumbai after completing her master’s degree from the London School of Economics.
She worked at an international bank with an annual salary of Rs220,000, out of which Rs17,000 went towards rent. “A large portion of my salary would go into paying rent, but I wanted to be financially independent and make my own life decisions,” Soha explained.
Her turning point came when a modelling assignment fetched her Rs500,000, giving her the courage to pursue films. She later made her Bollywood debut opposite Shahid Kapoor in Dil Maange More, where she earned Rs1 million.
Over the years, Soha has acted in diverse films and continues to remain active in the Indian film industry. Her journey, she says, is proof that independence and self-reliance matter more than privilege alone.
