Smooth Polling Underway in Balochistan’s PB-8 By-Election Amid Tight Security
Polling for the Balochistan Assembly’s PB-8 Sibi-cum-Lahri constituency by-election began at 8 am on Sunday and will continue uninterrupted until 5 pm. According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), over 116,000 registered voters are expected to exercise their democratic right.
Due to security concerns, 34 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive. To ensure peaceful voting, CCTV cameras have been installed, and additional security personnel have been deployed.
This by-election was initially scheduled for November 14 but was postponed due to security concerns. A hotly contested race is expected between Sardar Kohyar Khan Domki of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and independent candidate Mir Asghar Khan Mari.
The ECP is hopeful for a smooth and peaceful conclusion to the by-election, reinforcing its commitment to upholding democratic processes in the region.
