Sher Afzal Marwat Returns to PTI After Meeting Imran Khan Amidst Party Controversy
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat has officially announced his return to the party after a significant meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. The announcement comes after a period of controversy and suspension from the party.
Speaking to the media outside the jail, Marwat revealed that his meeting with Khan, which took place after a three-month hiatus, was marked by a warm reception and an in-depth discussion on various issues affecting the party. Marwat stated that Khan had assigned him the responsibility of organizing a major public gathering scheduled for August 22. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was reportedly present to witness this directive from Khan.
Expressing his gratitude to Imran Khan, Marwat apologized for previous criticisms directed at PTI leaders and confirmed the end of his differences with the party. He assured his commitment to organizing peaceful public events and refraining from violent protests.
The development follows a tumultuous period for Marwat, who was recently at the center of a dispute over a suspension notification issued by PTI. The notification, endorsed by PTI Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, had been challenged by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, who labeled it as “fake.”
Despite the controversy, Marwat’s return to PTI signals a reconciliation of sorts within the party, which had previously issued a show-cause notice to him on May 11 for allegedly violating the party’s code of conduct.
Marwat’s reentry into the party and his new role in organizing the upcoming public gathering mark a new chapter in his political journey with PTI.
