Karachi has reported its second fatality due to the Congo virus, as a 26-year-old man from Ibrahim Hyderi succumbed to the infection at the Infectious Diseases Hospital. According to Dr. Abdul Waheed, the patient exhibited symptoms including high fever and internal bleeding — both hallmark signs of the deadly virus.

The deceased had no recent travel history but lived in a livestock-heavy area, suggesting possible local transmission. Health officials are intensifying awareness campaigns and are urging the public to exercise extreme caution, particularly around animals or during visits to slaughterhouses and cattle farms.

This incident follows another recent Congo-related death in the city, raising serious concerns of an emerging outbreak. The Health Department has advised the public to wear protective clothing, avoid direct contact with animals, and report early symptoms to nearby health facilities.
