Russia Expels Six British Diplomats Over Espionage Allegations Amid Heightened Tensions

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on Friday that it had revoked the accreditation of six British diplomats stationed in Moscow, accusing them of engaging in espionage and sabotage activities. The FSB claims to have documents proving that a British foreign office department responsible for Eastern Europe and Central Asia has been coordinating efforts to escalate the political and military situation in the region, with a particular focus on ensuring Russia’s strategic defeat in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
In a statement, the FSB revealed that these diplomats posed a direct threat to Russia’s national security. As a result, their accreditation was terminated by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with other government agencies. Russian state media aired the names and photographs of the diplomats, further escalating the situation.
According to an FSB representative on state television, the expulsion of these diplomats serves as a warning to the British government to cease intelligence activities within Russia. The security agency indicated that additional British diplomats could face similar consequences if found engaging in suspicious activities.
