Rizwan’s Magnificent 171 Sees Him Enter Elite Pakistani Wicketkeeper Club
In a stellar display of batting, Muhammad Rizwan has etched his name into the record books by joining the elite club of Pakistani wicketkeepers who have scored 150 or more runs in a Test match. The 32-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman achieved this remarkable feat during the first Test against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, scoring an unbeaten 171 off 239 balls.
Rizwan’s brilliant knock places him alongside legendary Pakistani wicketkeepers like Kamran Akmal, Rashid Latif, Imtiaz Ahmed, and Taslim Arif. His innings marks the highest score by a Pakistani wicketkeeper since Kamran Akmal’s unbeaten 158 against Sri Lanka in 2009.
Rizwan’s performance was pivotal in putting Pakistan in a commanding position, allowing the team to declare their innings at 448-6 on the second day. His third Test century, and highest in the format so far, has further cemented his reputation as a reliable middle-order batsman.
Alongside Rizwan, Saud Shakeel also played a crucial role, scoring 141 runs, which contributed significantly to Pakistan’s dominant total. As Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi remained unbeaten, Pakistan took a strong lead in the match, setting the stage for a potential victory.
