Rana Sanaullah Calls for Mohsin Naqvi to Choose Between Interior Ministry and PCB Chairman Roles
Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Rana Sanaullah, who also serves as an adviser to the Prime Minister on political and public affairs, addressed the ongoing debate about Mohsin Naqvi’s dual roles. Sanaullah emphasized that both the Ministry of Interior and the position of Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are full-time commitments, and Naqvi must make a definitive choice between them.
Sanaullah expressed concerns over the issue of political interference in sports bodies, asserting that influential individuals often occupy prestigious positions without merit, leveraging their power to secure roles in reputable institutions. He highlighted the problematic nature of such practices, stating, “These individuals are so powerful that if I want to take a stand, the entire system would be shaken.”
The Minister also touched on the broader political landscape, denying any alignment with Maulana Fazlur Rehman but confirming cooperation with him. He discussed the ongoing controversy surrounding Lt. General (retired) Faiz Hameed, who faces accusations of meddling in the appointment of the Army Chief and manipulating postings. Sanaullah suggested that if these accusations are true, Hameed could not have acted alone, implicating the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party as well.
Sanaullah hinted that further revelations might come to light after Hameed’s retirement, potentially including WhatsApp messages about communications on May 9th and individuals who facilitated these exchanges.
