Qatar’s Emir Announces Visit to Pakistan Next Year After Key Meeting with President Zardari in Doha

President Asif Ali Zardari held a high-level meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties, defense cooperation, and economic collaboration between the two nations.

The Emir expressed pride in Pakistan’s achievements and acknowledged the valuable role of the Pakistani community in Qatar, expressing his wish to increase their numbers further.

President Zardari conveyed warm wishes on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, praising Qatar’s rapid development under the Emir’s visionary leadership. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Qatar.

The Emir of Qatar appreciated the recent Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defense agreement, calling it timely and strategic. He noted Pakistan’s unique position of maintaining strong relations with China, the West, and Gulf countries simultaneously.

President Zardari proposed expanded cooperation in defense production, agriculture, and food security — a suggestion the Emir welcomed, directing officials to initiate immediate follow-ups.

Sheikh Tamim praised Pakistan’s role in regional peace efforts, particularly regarding Afghanistan, and expressed optimism about future stability. He accepted President Zardari’s invitation and announced his official visit to Pakistan early next year.

The meeting was also attended by PPP Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar.
