Punjab Lifts Ban on Meetings with Adiala Jail Prisoners Amid Security Concerns

On Saturday, the Government of Punjab officially lifted the ban on meetings with prisoners in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. The restriction, which began on October 4, was reportedly put in place due to security concerns and extended until October 25.

According to Adiala Jail officials, meetings will resume as normal, allowing family members and visitors to reconnect with prisoners following the suspension. Security sources noted that alongside heightened security alerts, a series of mock security exercises contributed to the temporary restrictions on prisoner meetings in the facility.

The resumption of regular visitation is a welcome development for families and friends who had been awaiting the chance to visit. However, authorities are likely to continue monitoring the security situation to ensure the safety of both inmates and staff.
