Punjab Government Introduces Digital Pension System with New E-Pension Rules
Punjab government has completely digitized its pension system, marking a significant departure from traditional paper-based processes. The new system, formalized through a Gazette notification, introduces “E-Pension Papers” to replace the conventional “Pension Papers,” along with “e-medical certificates” for retirees.
This shift is part of broader amendments to the Punjab Civil Servants Act of 1974, which aim to streamline and modernize the pension administration process, making it more efficient and user-friendly. The Secretary of the Finance Department Punjab officially announced these changes, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving public service delivery through digital transformation. Under the new digital framework, the pension application process has been made more accessible and secure. The use of electronic records is expected to reduce processing times, minimize errors, and enhance transparency, ultimately benefiting retirees across the province.
As the Punjab government continues to advance its digital agenda, this latest reform stands out as a critical step in aligning public sector services with modern technological standards.
