Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Stresses Urgent Need to Protect Ozone Layer on World Ozone Day

In her message on World Ozone Protection Day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz called attention to the urgent need to protect the ozone layer, which she said was essential for the survival of life on Earth. She noted that human activities had eroded the ozone layer, contributing to climate change, rising health issues, and environmental challenges.

Maryam Nawaz also revealed that the Provincial Cabinet has approved the Comprehensive Climate Resilient Punjab Vision and Action Plan 2024, which is aimed at addressing environmental issues such as flood management, ecosystem infrastructure, food security, and combating heat waves. The plan also includes launching solar panel programs for cheaper, sustainable electricity.

The Chief Minister highlighted past initiatives like the introduction of e-bikes and the ban on plastic bags as part of her government’s environmental efforts.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to preserving the ozone layer, stressing the importance of global collaboration in addressing the depletion of the ozone layer and recognizing Pakistan’s contributions to this international cause.
