PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has raised alarms about a new bill that permits the detention of any individual for 90 days, which is set to be introduced on Monday. Speaking on a Geo News program, Raja warned that Pakistan’s democracy is at a critical juncture, accusing parliament of ceding its power to anti-democratic forces and claiming the judiciary has been weakened by constitutional amendments.

He further highlighted that, under the current climate, there is little legal protection, with no law or judicial safeguard remaining intact. Raja urged the public, lawyers, and journalists to rally against what he called fascist measures overtaking the nation. According to Raja, the PTI previously protested at the party level, but now the public must stand up to defend their rights. He also criticized the government’s legislative actions, stating that current political parties act as “puppets,” following orders rather than representing the people.
