PTI March Led by Bushra Bibi Faces Tear Gas Shelling at Zero Point
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) convoy, led by Bushra Bibi, faced strong resistance from law enforcement as it reached Zero Point on Islamabad’s Srinagar Highway early Tuesday. The marchers clashed with police who used tear gas to disperse the crowd. Protesters responded by pelting stones, escalating tensions.
Bushra Bibi vowed to continue the march, stating that the protest was not just for Imran Khan but for the country’s future. She emphasized her commitment to reaching D-Chowk despite the government’s offer to relocate the sit-in to alternate locations.
The Red Zone boundaries have been fortified with military personnel under orders to “open fire on miscreants” if necessary. Key PTI leaders, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, joined the convoy en route to Islamabad. Earlier, police fired tear gas at PTI processions at multiple locations, including Attock Bridge and Taxila.
The government and PTI have yet to reach a resolution, as talks between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and PTI representatives remain inconclusive. The situation remains tense, with heightened security measures across the capital.
