The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Core and Political Committees have become victims of fake news, creating concern among party leaders.

According to insiders, the issue escalated on Sunday when Haleem Adil Sheikh shared a fabricated report about attacks on Asad Qaiser and Mahmood Achakzai in the Core Committee group, seeking feedback from members. Similarly, Syma Bhatti shared false news about international media gaining access to meet the party’s founder, labeling it as a significant success.

Another misleading tweet regarding the transfer of PTI’s founder from jail was also shared in the group, which Ali Muhammad Khan immediately flagged as fake. He urged members to consult leaders before reacting to such reports.

The party’s leadership expressed worry over the damage caused by the spread of unverified news, with former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser revealing that six fake reports about him had circulated in the past week.

“I am puzzled about the source and purpose behind this fake news,” Asad Qaiser remarked. PTI leaders stressed the importance of fact-checking to uphold the party’s credibility.
