PTA Reminds International Travelers to Register Mobile Devices for Compliance

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an important reminder to international travelers regarding the registration of mobile phones brought into the country. This reminder is part of the PTA’s ongoing efforts to regulate the use of mobile devices in Pakistan and ensure adherence to national tax regulations.

Under current rules, passengers arriving in Pakistan are allowed to register their mobile phones on a temporary basis for a limited duration. However, if the traveler intends to stay in the country for more than 120 days, they are required to complete the full registration process and pay the prescribed taxes set by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The PTA has made it clear that failing to pay the applicable taxes for device registration could result in disruption to mobile services. The initiative aims to streamline mobile device usage in Pakistan and curb the use of unregistered phones, which could be misused for illegal purposes.

The PTA strongly encourages travelers to ensure that their devices are properly registered upon arrival to avoid any inconvenience and to comply with Pakistan’s regulations.
