In response to rising tensions between Pakistan and India, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a large-scale operation against Indian-backed bots and fake social media accounts responsible for disseminating anti-Pakistan content online.

Sources confirmed that dozens of suspicious profiles were identified as part of a broader disinformation campaign designed to malign Pakistan’s image. “So far, 46 suspicious URLs have been reported to relevant social media platforms for blocking,” a PTA official stated.

The PTA is now operating with 24/7 surveillance of social platforms to detect and dismantle organized digital efforts aimed at destabilizing Pakistan’s online information space. Officials explained that the disinformation appears to be part of a coordinated effort that intensified after recent political and military tensions between the two nations.

“All institutions are aligned to fight this cyber onslaught,” said a senior PTA representative. “We are committed to reporting and removing any account found engaged in hostile narrative-building against the country.”

Authorities also urged Pakistani citizens to be cautious about sharing unverified news and to report suspicious content to the PTA through official reporting channels.

This campaign is being seen as a crucial move to preserve digital sovereignty and information integrity amid growing hybrid warfare threats in the region.
