PTA Blocks 16 Indian News Channels, 31 YouTube Links Over Anti-Pakistan Propaganda
In a decisive move to counter digital misinformation, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked 16 Indian news channels, 31 YouTube video links, and more than 20 websites for spreading false narratives and propaganda against Pakistan.
The action comes amid rising regional tensions and what officials have termed “a deliberate disinformation campaign” aimed at harming Pakistan’s global image and inciting unrest internally. A PTA spokesperson stated that the decision was made to ensure national security and digital peace.
“These actions are part of our commitment to ensuring responsible use of digital platforms,” the spokesperson said. “We are monitoring and acting against any attempt to destabilize Pakistan through cyber propaganda.”
Authorities believe that such digital platforms were deliberately spreading anti-state narratives, particularly in the context of the current regional dynamics. The PTA emphasized that it would continue to take necessary measures to safeguard public order and prevent foreign interference via online platforms.
The move has been welcomed by several political and social circles as a necessary step to counter cyber threats and protect national sovereignty.
