President Zardari, IMF Hold Key Talks on Pakistan’s Economic Progress

President Asif Ali Zardari met with a high-level delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Jihad Azour, Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department, on Thursday. The discussion focused on Pakistan’s economic outlook, ongoing reform initiatives, and the progress under the IMF programme.

Also in attendance were Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and other senior officials.

President Zardari acknowledged the IMF’s crucial role in supporting Pakistan’s economic stabilization and appreciated the Fund’s assistance during challenging times. He credited the ongoing IMF programme for improvements in key areas like inflation control, foreign exchange reserves, and fiscal deficit management.

The IMF delegation expressed satisfaction with the government’s reform efforts, noting that the programme is progressing in the right direction. Both sides reiterated their commitment to continued cooperation to further stabilize and grow Pakistan’s economy.

President Zardari also applauded the efforts of the Finance Ministry team, praising their dedication to reform and financial management.
