PM Shehbaz Sharif Departs for UNGA, to Make Stopover in London
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed from Islamabad to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York, with a scheduled stop in London. Accompanying the Prime Minister are Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb and Information Minister Atta Tarar. However, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will not be part of the delegation due to important diplomatic commitments within Pakistan.
The Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed that Dar would be staying in Pakistan to oversee preparations for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Despite this, the Prime Minister’s schedule for attending the UN General Assembly remains unchanged. Shehbaz Sharif is expected to address global leaders at the UN, highlighting Pakistan’s stance on critical international issues, including climate change, regional security, and economic development.
The Prime Minister’s journey comes at a crucial time for Pakistan, as the country aims to bolster its international relations and secure foreign support on multiple fronts. His address at the UNGA will likely be closely watched both at home and abroad.
