Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a major decision by cancelling all foreign trips of ministers and parliamentarians, instructing them to remain in Islamabad amid efforts to forge political consensus on the constitutional amendment.

According to sources, the Prime Minister aims to ensure unity among all political parties on the proposed amendment.
Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq has been assigned a key role and has called a meeting of parliamentary leaders at 4 PM today in the Parliament House.

Leaders from major parties including PTI and JUI-F have been invited. The meeting will include a briefing on the contours of the constitutional amendment, while the government finalizes its approval strategy.

If political consensus is not achieved, sources say the government will rely on its numbers in Parliament.
The 27th Constitutional Amendment is expected to be tabled in the Senate on November 7, with the ruling coalition reportedly enjoying the support of 224 members in the National Assembly.
