Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded the bravery and professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in his message on Air Force Day, commemorated on September 7 every year. Paying tribute to the PAF, the prime minister specifically reflected on their valor during the 1965 war, where they were outnumbered but displayed exceptional courage.

Recalling the events of September 7, 1965, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the heroic efforts of PAF pilots who defended the nation’s airspace against overwhelming odds. He reserved special praise for legendary PAF pilot MM Alam, who etched his name in history by downing five enemy aircraft in under a minute. “MM Alam’s extraordinary feat not only humiliated the enemy but solidified the reputation of the Pakistan Air Force as an elite force,” he said.

The prime minister further expressed pride in the PAF and saluted the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the motherland. “The entire nation stands proud of our Air Force. We salute the martyrs who laid down their lives for the defense of Pakistan,” he added.

Air Force Day is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country, with special ceremonies held to honor the contributions of the PAF. A solemn event was organized at the grave of Rashid Minhas, a national hero and recipient of the Nishan-e-Haider. Air Vice Marshal Aamir Shehzad, a distinguished recipient of the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, attended the ceremony along with Shaheed Rashid Minhas’ brother, Anjum Minhas.
