PM Shehbaz Announces ‘Roshan Maishat Bijli Package’ to Boost Industry and Agriculture

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a major economic initiative, the ‘Roshan Maishat Bijli Package’, aimed at providing discounted electricity to industrial and agricultural sectors for three years.

Under the package, industries and farmers will receive additional electricity at reduced rates — Rs22.98 per unit — helping lower production costs and enhance competitiveness in both domestic and global markets.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that this relief will not affect domestic consumers and is designed solely to strengthen productive sectors. He said the package reflects the government’s long-term vision of economic revival, job creation, and export growth.

He noted that last year’s similar power scheme helped industries utilize 410 gigawatts of extra electricity, leading to higher exports and employment. The premier also praised the Power Division team led by Minister Sardar Owais Leghari for their contribution.

Calling the package a “turning point for Pakistan’s economic independence,” the prime minister expressed optimism that through reforms and unity, Pakistan will soon emerge from its economic challenges.
