In a breakthrough operation, law enforcement agencies in Peshawar have captured Mohammad Wali, the main facilitator behind the devastating suicide bombing at the Police Lines mosque. During a press briefing, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Inspector General Akhtar Hayat disclosed that Wali, a police constable, had been working as a sleeper agent with ties to the banned group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.

IG Hayat revealed that Wali played a crucial role in the attack by conducting reconnaissance for the suicide bomber and received 200,000 rupees in return for his involvement. Shockingly, Wali even recruited his brothers for assistance, paying them a mere 2,000 rupees each. Further investigation uncovered that the funds were funneled through illegal money transfer channels, with connections spanning into Punjab.

Mohammad Wali was arrested at Jamil Chowk, where authorities also seized two suicide vests in his possession. Wali is suspected of trafficking suicide jackets, bombers, and explosives from Afghanistan.

According to IG Hayat, Wali had recently traveled to Afghanistan on a week-long leave, during which he allegedly met with terrorist commanders Salahuddin and Mukaram Khurasani in Kunar. Afghan forces initially detained Wali upon his return, but he was subsequently released due to his handler Junaid’s intervention. Following the attack, Wali is believed to have updated his handler via Telegram.
