Pakistan Foreign Office Responds to Speculations on Israelis and US Visa Restrictions
In a media briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan clarified that there is no official information regarding any Pakistanis traveling to Israel, emphasizing that the matter is currently under review. He stated that recent reports circulating on social media are not based on facts, and the Foreign Office is yet to receive any confirmation on the issue.
Khan also reaffirmed that Pakistan’s policy towards Israel remains unchanged and that the situation will be addressed further once more information becomes available.
Responding to questions regarding the speculated US travel restrictions on Pakistanis, Khan dismissed the claims, labeling them as “media speculation.” He stated that both the Foreign Office and the US State Department have denied these reports, and there has been no official communication from Washington regarding new visa restrictions. He reiterated that Pakistan and the US have strong and multifaceted relations that continue to progress across various areas of cooperation.
On Afghanistan, Khan mentioned that summoning the Afghan charge d’affaires was a routine diplomatic matter and should not be viewed as extraordinary. He confirmed that the Torkham border crossing had been reopened on Wednesday, with pedestrian movement set to resume from Friday.
Khan also stated that Pakistan had demanded the cessation of construction activities on the Afghan side of the border, and Afghanistan had agreed to halt such activities.
Condemnation of Israeli Strikes
Khan strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes on Gaza and the West Bank, calling them a violation of the ceasefire. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to supporting a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
