Pakistan has finalized an ambitious project to install state-of-the-art electronic gates (E-Gates) at its three major international airports: Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi.

The initiative, aimed at improving airport security and streamlining the immigration process, is being implemented in partnership with German aviation consultancy firm M2P. A delegation from M2P, led by Managing Partner Christopher Mostert and Director of Engineering Services Kashif Shah Jelani, visited the Pakistan Airports Authority headquarters in Karachi to officially move forward with the plan.

The high-level meeting was chaired by Deputy Director General (Airports) Sadiq-ur-Rehman and attended by Deputy Director General (Works & Development) Samair Saeed, along with other senior officials.

As per the agreement, M2P will provide comprehensive technical assistance, including feasibility studies, system design, and the installation of E-Gates at the selected airports. Surveys have already been completed at Islamabad and Lahore, while Karachi’s survey commences today.

The implementation of E-Gates is expected to bring about significant improvements in security and efficiency, allowing for faster and more secure immigration clearance, and enhancing the overall travel experience for international passengers.
