Pakistan Extends Invitation to Modi for SCO Summit in Islamabad
Pakistan has extended an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which is scheduled to be held in Islamabad on October 15-16 this year. Invitations have been sent to the heads of all member states, including Modi.
Indian media outlets have reported that the Indian government has not yet made a decision regarding the invitation. Speculation is rife that a senior Indian minister may represent India at the conference instead of Prime Minister Modi.
This would not be the first time an Indian official has attended an SCO summit in Pakistan; the last instance occurred in 2015 when then-foreign minister Sushma Swaraj participated in the conference.
