Pakistani security agencies have arrested and secured convictions against three individuals accused of espionage linked to India’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), in what officials describe as a significant counterintelligence success.

According to security sources, the suspects were apprehended following detailed surveillance and intelligence operations. After the completion of legal proceedings under the Official Secrets Act, courts handed down sentences to all three individuals.

Investigations revealed that the accused were recruited through “honey trap” tactics on social media. They were allegedly lured and manipulated by women believed to be associated with RAW, leading to prolonged communication and eventual involvement in espionage activities.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to sharing sensitive information with foreign handlers. Officials stated that they exchanged classified details for financial incentives and continued interaction with these operatives online.

Authorities further disclosed that payments were made through multiple channels, including Easypaisa accounts, cryptocurrency wallets, and bank transfers, indicating a well-structured and organized network.

The individuals arrested belong to Narowal, Bahawalpur, and Neelum district in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Their arrests highlight the increasing use of digital platforms by foreign intelligence agencies to target and recruit individuals.

Security officials emphasized that agencies remain vigilant against both internal and external threats and are actively working to dismantle espionage networks operating within the country.

Defense experts have warned that such honey trap operations are becoming more sophisticated, often targeting unsuspecting citizens through social media. They urged the public to remain cautious, avoid suspicious interactions, and refrain from sharing sensitive information online.

Authorities have called on citizens to stay alert and cooperate with law enforcement agencies, stressing that public awareness is crucial in safeguarding national security and preventing exploitation by foreign intelligence networks.
