Pakistan Condemns US Congressional Interference, Warns Against Meddling in Internal Affairs

The Foreign Office of Pakistan has issued a strong rebuke over a letter sent by 60 US Congress members to President Joe Biden, urging him to press for the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. During a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch condemned the letter, calling it a breach of diplomatic decorum and a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Baloch stated, “Interference in Pakistan’s domestic issues through such letters is not acceptable and undermines the long-standing cooperative relationship between the two countries.” She further emphasized that mutual respect should remain the cornerstone of Pakistan-US ties.

The spokesperson also addressed a range of other topics, including Pakistan’s renewed application for BRICS membership, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and Pakistan’s renewed five-year agreement with India on the expansion of the Gurdwara Kartar Sahib.
