Pakistan, China Strengthen Ties with Key Economic MoUs

President Asif Ali Zardari, during his visit to China, met with Prime Minister Li Qiang in a high-level meeting aimed at boosting bilateral relations. The two nations signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), marking a significant step towards deeper economic cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah were also present at the meeting. During the discussions, President Zardari emphasized the strategic importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), calling it a vital initiative for regional connectivity and economic growth.
Among the notable agreements was a deal between Pakistan’s Thatta Cement Company and China’s Qinggang Construction Group to establish a production line, increasing Pakistan’s cement production by 5,000 tons per day. Another key MoU was signed between Sindh’s Energy Department and China’s Mingyang Renewable Energy Company to collaborate on renewable energy projects.
Additionally, an agreement was reached for a coal gasification and urea production plant, aiming to enhance Pakistan’s energy and agricultural output.
President Zardari also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People, where he received a warm welcome with a guard of honor. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Pak-China strategic partnership for mutual growth and prosperity.
