A district court in Okara has sentenced a man to 80 lashes for falsely accusing his wife of adultery.

The verdict was issued by Additional Sessions Judge Rana Khalil Ahmad Khan, who found the accused, Muhammad Boota, guilty of making baseless allegations against his spouse. The man had not only accused his wife of immoral conduct but had also declared his own newborn daughter illegitimate.

The court awarded the punishment under relevant legal provisions, emphasizing the seriousness of making false accusations that damage personal dignity and family integrity.

However, immediately after the verdict was announced, the convict managed to flee from the courtroom, prompting concerns over security lapses.

The prosecution was led by senior lawyer Nair Iqbal Lakhvi, who argued the case on behalf of the complainant.

Legal experts say the ruling reflects a strict stance against false allegations, particularly in cases involving family honor and reputation.
