Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has promised that his party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), will take every necessary step to stabilize the economy and alleviate the burden of high electricity bills on the public. Speaking at a party meeting in Lahore, Nawaz Sharif took aim at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), blaming its policies for the current economic hardships, including skyrocketing electricity costs and rampant inflation.

“The PML-N is the only party that understands how to provide relief to the people in these difficult times,” Sharif declared, reinforcing his party’s commitment to economic stability and public welfare. He emphasized that PML-N’s top priority is to stabilize the economy and offer relief to both domestic and industrial consumers facing heavy electricity bills.

At the same meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif briefed party members on the government’s new economic policy, while Punjab’s Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced new electricity relief measures. Aurangzeb revealed that 3.5 million consumers in key cities like Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Islamabad are already benefiting from these relief measures.

Aurangzeb disclosed that Rs50 billion had been allocated to provide relief to consumers using between one and 200 units of electricity, with further plans to provide relief through solar energy solutions. Consumers using between 201 and 500 units of electricity have also started receiving a relief of Rs14 per unit in their bills.
