The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to withdraw the new Toshakhana case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. The development came during a hearing in the accountability court on Monday, where Imran Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, argued that the case had lost its validity following the recent restoration of NAB amendments.

Safdar contended that the crime, as outlined in the new Toshakhana case, was no longer applicable under the current legal framework. The NAB prosecutor supported this argument, noting that the case had fallen outside NAB’s jurisdiction due to the amendments.

Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich of the accountability court took a three-hour recess before ruling that the case would be transferred to a Special Central Court. The court also set September 10 for the hearing of bail applications related to the case.

This move follows Imran Khan’s recent plea for relief in a separate high-profile case involving 190 million pounds, leveraging the Supreme Court’s decision on NAB amendments as a basis for seeking acquittal.
