More Rains Forecast for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Risk of Flooding and Landslides
After recent destructive rains, the Meteorological Department has issued another alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, forecasting more downpours that could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
According to the rain alert, districts including Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Malakand, and Buner may receive further rainfall. Emergency has already been imposed in Bajaur and Buner, where relief operations are underway.
The forecast also covers Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Mansehra, Haripur, and Abbottabad, while southern districts including Bannu, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, and Waziristan are also likely to witness rains, raising the risk of flooding in local streams.
Yesterday, Timergara recorded the highest rainfall at 98mm, followed by Malam Jabba (76mm), Kakul (64mm), and 41mm each in Balakot and Saidu Sharif.
