Modi’s Days Are Numbered, Says Defense Minister Khawaja Asif Amid Rising Tensions
In a bold and confrontational statement, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif declared that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political reign is nearing its end. Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Asif commented on the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, while laying out Pakistan’s stance on several critical diplomatic issues.
“The people of India will decide Modi’s fate. His days are numbered,” Asif asserted, pointing to growing criticism within Indian Parliament and international forums. He criticized Modi’s recent national address, accusing him of downplaying serious regional tensions that have grown too complex to resolve easily.
On the issue of terrorism, Khawaja Asif reaffirmed Pakistan’s position as the country most affected by global terrorism, placing responsibility on India for aggravating the situation. He cited statements from Modi offering to investigate terrorism, and urged that India’s role in fueling instability be scrutinized internationally.
“Terrorism has plagued Pakistan for over 25 years. The world now acknowledges this, and it’s time India’s involvement is exposed,” he stated.
Turning to the Kashmir issue, the minister emphasized that the dispute remains at the core of Indo-Pak talks and demanded sincere dialogue to reach a final resolution.
Asif also touched upon the Indus Waters Treaty, accusing India of trying to politicize the water-sharing agreement. “The treaty is a legal obligation. It cannot be revoked unilaterally,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, Asif alleged that India acts as a global sponsor of terrorism, citing cases not just in Pakistan but in Canada and the US. “India’s role must be exposed in all future diplomatic platforms,” he concluded.
