Mike Hesson Likely to Be Appointed as Pakistan’s White-Ball Head Coach After May 4

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in the final stages of appointing a new head coach for the national cricket team, and a formal announcement is expected after May 4, according to reliable sources.
Former New Zealand head coach and current Islamabad United mentor Mike Hesson has emerged as the front-runner for the position — specifically for white-ball formats (ODIs and T20Is). His familiarity with Pakistan’s domestic cricket, through the PSL, is seen as a major advantage.
The PCB is currently waiting for the coaching application deadline to close before announcing its final choice. If appointed, Hesson’s first assignment will likely be the upcoming T20I home series against Bangladesh, which is scheduled to begin May 21.
The five-match series will feature:
-
3 T20Is in Lahore
-
2 T20Is in Faisalabad
Additionally, selectors are considering several players for inclusion in the national squad for the series, including:
-
Sahibzada Farhan
-
Hussain Talat
-
Hasan Ali
-
Faheem Ashraf
-
Ali Raza
Fans and analysts alike are closely watching the developments, as Pakistan builds momentum ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup later this year.
