Metro bus services suspended between twin cities amid PTI jalsa

Metrobus service between the Islamabad and Rawalpindi cities has been suspended with operations halted from Sadar Station to Pak Secretariat, according to the district administration amid the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) jalsa today in Islamabad. In response to the security threat, the Islamabad Police issued a notice ordering the closure of all hotels and shops around the PTI public gathering.

The notice directed that no person should be provided shelter, food, or any other facility. Police warned that legal action would be taken against any violations of the notice. On Saturday, Police recovered a suspicious bag containing explosives like a hand rocket launcher, a detonator, a hand grenade, and wires from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) jalsa venue in the Sangjani area of Islamabad.

The bomb disposal squad was immediately called to secure the area and recheck the venue for any additional threats while no injuries have been reported. PTI claimed that the Sangjani Police Station team of Islamabad Police Sunday arrested PP-151 ticket holder Hamad Awan.

The party said Dr Hasan, son of Mehmood-ul-Rashid, was also arrested. Both the leaders had reached the meeting place along with the party workers Both were arrested at the entrance police picket of the jalsa venue.
