In a bold and transformative initiative, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz unveiled the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” housing scheme on Wednesday, aimed at providing affordable homes to the underprivileged. The scheme, which has been eagerly anticipated, promises to be a game-changer for the people of Punjab, offering not only homes but also significant financial relief.

During her launch speech, Maryam Nawaz expressed pride in the successful implementation of the scheme, underscoring the government’s commitment to swiftly constructing homes for those in need. “We have succeeded in creating this scheme, and we will quickly build houses and provide them to the people,” she affirmed.

Maryam Nawaz also highlighted the legacy of her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who initiated similar welfare programs during his tenure. “We are continuing that legacy by providing land and homes to the people, just as Nawaz Sharif did for farmers,” she stated.

A cornerstone of the scheme is the provision of a 15 lakh interest-free loan for 5 marla land in urban areas and 10 marla land in rural areas, with no payments required for the first three months. The Chief Minister noted that the monthly installment would be just 14,000 rupees, designed to ease the financial burden on low-income families.

In a bid to further alleviate the financial struggles of the people, Maryam Nawaz announced a major relief package in electricity bills, amounting to a staggering 45 to 50 billion rupees. She also revealed an ambitious solar power program set to launch next year, which aims to eliminate the need for electricity bills altogether.
