Maryam Nawaz Becomes First Pakistani CM to Embark on Official Visit to Japan
In a significant diplomatic milestone, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has embarked on a five-day official visit to Japan, becoming the first provincial chief minister from Pakistan to undertake such a state-level tour.
The visit, announced on Friday, comes at the invitation of the Japanese government. Senior officials gathered at Lahore Airport to bid farewell to the CM and her delegation, which includes senior minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, provincial information minister Azma Bokhari, Sohaib Bharath, Zeeshan Rafiq, Special Assistant Sania Ashiq, and high-ranking government officers.
During her visit, Maryam Nawaz will travel to Tokyo, Osaka, and Yokohama. She is set to attend the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, hold meetings with senior Japanese officials, and visit several Japanese institutions, aiming to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and technology.
