Major General Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti Urges Unity Against Anti-Army Campaign in Bannu Address
In a notable address at a grand jirga in Bannu, Major General Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, GOC of the 9th Division, highlighted the ongoing anti-army campaign on social media as a deliberate conspiracy against the armed forces. He pointed out that the creation of Pakistan as an Islamic state is not favored by many external forces, which poses a significant challenge to the nation’s security.
Addressing tribal leaders, civil and military officials, and community members, he stated, “As long as the army is present, Pakistan will remain safe, and this is largely due to the unwavering support of the public.” He acknowledged existing grievances but emphasized that the Pakistan Army has made immense sacrifices alongside law enforcement to ensure peace.
The general further mentioned that the army’s role in combating terrorism has been crucial, especially in regions like Laki Marwat, where security operations are necessary to maintain order. He asserted that military action should not be viewed as a means of oppression but as a commitment to national security.
Major General Bhatti also discussed the importance of local support in overcoming challenges posed by militant groups. He expressed hope that through collective effort, the menace of terrorism could be eradicated within a year, emphasizing the need for cooperation between the military and the community.
