Maha Hasan Shares Childhood Abuse Experience: “My Faith and Sense of Self Were Shaken”
Pakistani television actress Maha Hasan has bravely opened up about experiencing abuse during her childhood, a revelation that has stirred national conversations about child protection and trauma healing.
Speaking in a candid interview on a private YouTube channel, the actress — known for her roles in Ishqiya, Yunhi, and Nand — revealed that she was subjected to inappropriate touching and verbal harassment as a child. She recalled the experience as terrifying, one she couldn’t fully comprehend at the time due to her young age.
“When I was little, I was spoken to in the wrong way. I was touched inappropriately,” she said, holding back tears. “Back then, I didn’t even realize it was wrong. I wish I had filed an FIR, but I was unaware.”
Maha admitted that the trauma shook her emotionally and spiritually, leading her to question religion, morality, and even her self-worth. But she also shared that over time, through therapy and spiritual healing, she has found peace.
“Now, my faith is stronger than ever. Prayer gives me peace,” she said.
Her story has triggered a wave of support from fans, colleagues, and social activists, many of whom praised her for breaking the silence on such a deeply personal topic.
Activists say her case reflects the urgent need for awareness, reform, and safe spaces for victims of child abuse in Pakistan—a society where shame and stigma often silence the survivors.
