The Lower Dir district will distribute one million mosquito nets over the next three months to combat malaria. This ambitious plan was unveiled during a Zoom meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah.

The meeting included key figures such as Lower Dir Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Arif Khan, Deputy District Health Officer Dr. Wali Khan, District Monitoring Officer for the malaria program Waqas, and other relevant officials. Dr. Wali Khan and Waqas outlined the detailed process for the distribution of mosquito nets, emphasizing that it would be completed within three months.

The distribution plan involves a comprehensive approach, starting with door-to-door surveys conducted by 1,078 health department volunteers using a mobile app. These volunteers have been distributing coupons to residents. In the next phase, the collected data will be thoroughly reviewed to ensure that the nets are distributed to deserving individuals.

A total of 169 distribution points have been established where residents can present their coupons to collect their mosquito nets. The Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Arif Khan, has instructed that the distribution should be conducted on merit, with particular focus on areas with higher reported cases of malaria.
