Lionel Messi Set to Make His Comeback for Inter Miami After Ankle Injury
Lionel Messi is poised to return to action for Inter Miami after being sidelined for more than two months due to an ankle injury, as confirmed by the club’s coach Gerardo Martino. Messi’s last appearance was during the Copa America final on July 14, where he injured his right ankle while leading Argentina to victory over Colombia. Since then, he has missed eight Major League Soccer (MLS) games as well as Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers.
Martino revealed that Messi participated in training and will be available for Inter Miami’s clash against Philadelphia Union. “He is fine and in our plans for the game,” said Martino. Messi’s return has injected confidence into the team, who are already on a strong run and have secured a spot in the MLS playoffs. Finnish winger Robert Taylor shared the excitement, noting how Messi’s competitive nature in training has motivated the squad.
With the MLS playoffs looming, Messi’s return comes at a crucial time for Inter Miami, as they aim to finish strong in the regular season, which wraps up on October 19. The playoffs are set to begin shortly after, with the MLS Cup taking place on December 7.
