Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez to Miss MLS All-Star Game Due to Injuries
Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, will not participate in the MLS All-Star Game scheduled for Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio. The announcement came as both players are sidelined with injuries. Messi, 37, is nursing an ankle injury he sustained during the Copa America final on July 14, where Argentina defeated Colombia. Suárez is also unavailable due to “knee discomfort.”
Both Messi and Suárez have been absent from Inter Miami’s recent victories over Toronto FC and the Chicago Fire. The team has stated that their participation in the upcoming Leagues Cup match against Mexican club Puebla on Saturday will depend on their recovery progress.
The MLS All-Star Game features top players from Major League Soccer competing against their counterparts from Mexico’s Liga MX. Despite the absence of Messi and Suárez, Miami’s Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba are set to represent the team in the game. Additionally, Real Salt Lake forward Cristian Arango, who leads the league with 17 goals and 11 assists, will also miss the event due to a four-game suspension for violating MLS’s anti-harassment policy.
