Levies Force Foils Major Terror Plot in Ziarat; Five Afghan Suspects Arrested With Heavy Weapons
The Levies Force has successfully thwarted a major terrorism plan in the Ziarat district by conducting a precise intelligence-based operation, resulting in the arrest of five suspected Afghan terrorists.
According to officials, the operation was carried out near the Spera Ragha Levies check post. The arrested suspects are believed to be residents of Kandahar, Afghanistan. A senior district administration official said the operation was the result of the Levies Force’s timely intelligence and professional coordination between field teams, with full support from the district administration.
Security teams recovered a large cache of weapons, explosives, and communication devices from the suspects’ possession. The seized items include 11 hand grenades, 15 SMG grenades, 3 submachine guns, parts of 2 M4 rifles, 9 M4 magazines, 14 SMG magazines, 420 SMG rounds, 230 M4 rounds, 1 kg explosive material, a grenade launcher, 2 RPG rockets, 6 wireless sets, 4 mobile phones, a dagger, 13 ammunition bags, 16 power cells, a Suzuki carry van, a motorcycle, and banned TTP literature.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti praised the successful operation, congratulating the Levies Force and the district administration. He said that local forces like the Levies are the backbone of Balochistan’s security and stability. Their sacrifices and swift actions continue to crush the ambitions of terrorists.
He further stated that the government stands firmly behind all security institutions and that the war against terrorism will continue until complete peace is restored.
Security sources added that interrogation of the arrested suspects is underway, and significant revelations about wider terror networks in the province are expected. Officials say the operation marks an important step toward ensuring lasting peace in Balochistan.
