Lahore Becomes the World’s Second Most Polluted City, AQI Hits Dangerous 437
As temperatures drop, air pollution levels in Lahore have soared to dangerous heights, making it the second most polluted city in the world, according to global environmental data.
The city’s average Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached 437, placing it in the “hazardous” category.
District-wise data reveals alarming figures: Allama Iqbal Town (667), Government College area (649), Sanda Road (663), Murataab Ali Road (605), Punjab University (554), Model Town (503), Shalimar (498), and Cantonment (445).
Experts warn that these pollution levels pose serious health risks, particularly to children, the elderly, and those with respiratory or cardiac conditions.
Meanwhile, New Delhi tops the global list with an AQI of 678, followed by Gujranwala (639), Faisalabad (460), and Multan (429) in Pakistan.
